The Kisumu Dala Artist Exhibition is a show composed of paintings made by students and graduates of Mwangaza Art School in the informal settlement community of Nyalenda in Kisumu, Kenya. We have listed suggested prices for each piece. However, our hope is that this show will also be a fundraiser to open a two-story gallery in Kisumu town with the ground floor for a gallery space and the top floor for studio space and teaching. There are currently no permanent galleries in Kisumu for artists to display and sell their work. So, please feel free to pay either the suggested price or more if you would like to raise more money for the gallery. The show is curated by Betsy Ferrer Okello, PhD Candidate in Curriculum, Teaching, and Education Policy at Michigan State University. The exhibition will run from March 11 to the 27th at the Lookout! Art Gallery C200 Snyder Hall MSU, 362 Bogue St. The gallery is open Monday-Fridays, Noon-3pm; Thursdays Noon-2:45. This show is sponsored in part by the African Studies Center at MSU.
